This one is also from a Craigslist ad, in response to an email from me. (this ad was more vague than the previous one).

Hi ,Thanks for being interested in buying my 2001 Toyota 4Runner Limited with automatic transmission. It is in a good condition, no scratches,no damages,never been implicated in any accidents,no problems at the engine,runs very well. It has an 6 Cylinder 3.4 Liter, 54,687 miles, clear title, a perfect car. The price is not negotiable , $4,100 firm. The only thing because i am selling it, is because of my recent divorce...Will use only WorldPay to complete the sale. If you are interested and you have the funds available email me your full name and shipping address.

Red flags here

• Worldpay? What the hell is this service that I've never heard of
• Again, the price is well below dealer trade-in, so if it's so urgent you could get that much money from driving down to a dealer and signing over the title
• If you are so desperate to get rid of a car, why are you limiting yourself to only using one service?
• Why do we need to ship anything? I'm not talking about a parcel here, we're talking about a freaking 4runner!

Again, please, everyone, stay away from these people.

Scam Numero Uno

How can you tell if you are being scammed? Well, my first indication is when you are being asked to buy something that is located out of state and that you are unable to inspect - see this lovely correspondence below.

Okay, so what is wrong here?

• First of all, car is located outside my geographic area
• Second of all, the price is ridiculously low, you could sell it to a dealer today for that price, why bother with craigslist at all?
• Third, no deal involving shipping a car is ever "quick and smooth"

Run, run away from these emails and ads on craigslist.
